The history of this land began in 1881 when J.J. Scarff planted a quarter acre of blackberries and sold the fruit to the local community. Later his son W.N. began selling plants on his own corner of land. The nursery was passed down within the Scarff's family for five generations. When it came to sell the land and business it was important to maintain the small business values.
In 2020, Scarff's Nursery and Landscape was purchased by Henderson Turf, a family-owned turf company that shared the same small business values that the Scarff family believed in.
Henderson Turf continues to grow. In January 2021 with the addition of many staff members from the former Studebaker Nurseries the name of the business was changed to Ohio Nursery Exchange.
We have 551 Acres of which 243 is Sod production, 243 is field production and 65 is containers, our offices and shipping yard. We have 447.26 acres in Clark County and 103.84 in Miami County and a total of 68 container houses.
In 2024 we are planting 44,755 in our fields

STAFF
Todd has a true entrepreneurial heart. Four years ago he came into the nursery business while looking for land to expand the sod farm in Franklin. It may have been the perfect place at the perfect time because the marriage between sod farm and nursery has been a beautiful growth over the last few years. The entrepreneurial spirit doesn’t stop with Todd, in honor of his wife Bobbie, he still owns and operates a 50 acre horse farm in Springboro where they have a 501 C3 non profit organization that offers many programs for young people healing from emotional issues. In his rare free time, loves to travel to Mexico, Ecuador, and frequently to St. Croix. Todd’s even keeled, people first way of living is definitely infectious in the rest of his organization!
Scott definitely brings professionalism to the table. His ability to build executive teams and grow the organization in the right direction is second to none. It’s no surprise that Scott is great at keeping teams together since he gets to practice at home with his wife Brittany and their seven children. When spending time outside, Scott enjoys rock climbing, hiking, and traveling.
For 7 years, Brandon has been with Henderson Turf in many capacities. His current role with the Henderson Turf companies is Chief Operating Officer. Brandon is a fanatic for details and increasing efficiency. When not around the farm or nursery, Brandon enjoys life with with his wife and kids. His love for turf drew him to this company and lawncare and being outdoors for a hike continues to be a past time of his.

Anne is our sales manager, Anne is great at multitasking and making next to anything happen for her customers. We’re not sure how Anne has free time, but when she does, she enjoys boating and traveling with her family. Anne’s get it done attitude is a great energy to have around as we work to grow and be better every day for our customers!
Dan has been such an asset on our sales team with his focus on customer service. His number one priority is to turn all of his customers into friends and then continually treat them as such. In his free time, he enjoys watching sports with his family and he is a big fan of all the Ohio teams! Dan always shows so much respect and gratitude for the team and we are grateful for him as well.

Jody has come into the office with an organized, determined attitude to do her best every single day! In Jody’s personal time, she enjoys God time, crafting, growing anything, and spending time with her husband and grand littles. Jody truly loves this industry and with 15+ years of experience she shows that love not only at work, but also as the Former President of the Cincinnati Flower Growers Association. Come into the customer center and witness Jody’s customer service first hand! Her laugh and smile is guaranteed to give you a better day!
Greg comes to us with 16 years in the industry and with his exceptional customer service he is a valuable asset to our team. In Greg’s personal time he is a member of a volunteer rescue squad, enjoys being outdoors and does rescue for the American Power Boat Associations Hydroplane races. Come into the customer center and witness Greg’s customer first attitude for your yourself, he looks forward to assisting you!
When something gets done around the nursery, it all starts with Bill. Bill has 38 years experience, he joined Studebaker's and worked his way up through the ranks prior to their closing in 2021. He took a short sabbatical and joined Evans Farms helping them establish an organic wholesale vegetable production. When he's not working Bill loves spending time with his family which includes taking his 2 grandchildren 4 wheeling on the family farm and watching OSU football.
If you want to know who the brains behind this operation is, look no further than Nathan. With his knowledge of plants and pests he is an invaluable member of our team. In his free time he enjoys gardening, staying active through running and lifting weights, and going to see live music and comedy. The team all appreciates his knowledge, but also his even temperament in all situations.
